Dashboard
A dashboard is a screen showing the current state of a few things that matter, so someone can see how the business is doing without asking anyone or building a report.
Also written: management dashboardArabic: لوحة المؤشرات
What makes one useless
Too much on it. A dashboard showing forty numbers shows nothing, because nobody can tell which of the forty changed for a reason. The discipline is subtraction, and it is harder than it sounds because every number has someone who wants it there.
A dashboard is a symptom of its data
It cannot be better than the records underneath it. Building one on top of systems that disagree produces a confident-looking screen that is wrong, which is worse than no dashboard, because now the wrong number has a chart.

Questions people ask
Few enough that a change in any of them would prompt an action. If nobody would do anything differently, the number is reporting, not a dashboard.
