What it is
The HR Candidate Evaluation Tool is a hiring intelligence SaaS designed to help HR and talent acquisition teams evaluate candidates faster, more consistently and with clearer evidence.
It builds a role-specific skill framework, then organizes the available evidence for each candidate into a structured skill matrix. Inputs can include CVs and resumes, job descriptions, application forms, assessments, interview transcripts and interviewer notes.
The system draws on Sahla's proprietary dataset of more than 1 million candidate records, spanning profiles, assessments, interviews and hiring outcomes, to calibrate its models and provide a broader evidence base for candidate evaluation.
It is an assistant, not an automated hiring authority. Final hiring decisions remain with the people responsible for them.
How it works
The process starts with the role itself. When an HR professional enters a role name, the system evaluates whether it maps to terminology commonly used in the market. If it does, the system recommends an initial set of relevant skills. If it does not, it suggests more widely recognized role names while still allowing the user to retain a custom title.
HR teams can then modify the recommended framework or define their own skills. Custom skills are evaluated and calibrated against the underlying dataset before being incorporated into the candidate evaluation.
Candidate evidence is collected across multiple sources. Each additional source strengthens the evidence available to the model. The system exposes its confidence rather than presenting every output as equally certain.
Where confidence is weak, it identifies the areas that need further exploration. Teams can also define a minimum confidence threshold. If the available evidence falls below that threshold, the system withholds the evaluation and recommends what additional information should be collected.
Depending on the product tier, outputs include role-specific skill matrices, candidate rankings and shortlists, interview summaries and structured candidate notes.
Why we built it
Hiring teams collect large amounts of candidate information, but much of it remains fragmented across CVs, application forms, assessments, interviews and individual interviewer notes.
That fragmentation makes comparison difficult. It also creates a gap between the information collected during hiring and the structured evidence ultimately used to make a decision.
We are building the tool to turn those separate inputs into a consistent evaluation framework without pretending that a model should make the hiring decision itself.
The objective is narrower: organize the evidence, expose what is known and unknown, make candidates easier to compare against the requirements of a role, and give hiring teams a stronger basis for their own judgement.
Where it got to
Development started in 2025 and the product is currently at MVP stage.
A public SaaS launch is targeted for Q4 2026 or Q1 2027. Sahla has conceived, funded and developed the venture in-house.
We are seeking HR-sector partners to test and pilot the MVP against real recruitment workflows before the wider public launch.
What we are testing
The central question is whether combining multiple sources of candidate evidence with a large historical dataset can produce useful, explainable skill evaluations without creating false certainty.
The MVP is therefore designed around explicit confidence levels and evidence gaps. More input should increase confidence; insufficient evidence should produce a request for more information rather than an unsupported conclusion.
The pilot stage will test whether that approach materially improves the speed, consistency and usefulness of candidate evaluation for working HR teams.
